Back to topHuck and Finn Recommend
After we lost Hobo in January 2014, we planned to adopt a kitten, most likely a boy, in mid- to late spring, maybe April or May 2014. However, we have always had visitors from the Animal Care Sanctuary. Our friend Rowan, who works at ACS in Wellsboro, brings cats and sometimes dogs by the bookstore, as part of their socialization, and to get them more exposure through the bookstore community -- thus improving their chances of adoption.
Only one month after Hobo's death, we welcomed a little black cat, and his littler black & white brother as visitors. They made themselves right at home, acting as though they had been working here for years. They are friendly, curious, comfortable around many people, relaxed in loud and varied circumstances. They came from a cat hoarding situation, so they are small for their age (1 to 2 years?), and still act as though they will never get enough to eat. Otherwise, they are healthy, happy boys who reassured us: We can do this job.
We officially adopted the boys on Monday, Feb. 24th. Since they had only had their ACS names for a few weeks, we sought new, more "bookstore"-oriented names for them. After a myriad of amazing suggestions from the public, we settled on Huck and Finn. Huck is the smaller of the two, perhaps younger, from a separate litter, with black and white markings. Finn is all black, the larger of the brothers. Welcome home, boys!
Here are some books they'd love to recommend to you & your family!
