Then he met a girl who gave him real hope--a hope strong enough to defend and protect him from life's adversities--and the belief that his poetry had the power to summon true beauty.

But it was all a lie. Hope was an illusion. Ugliness reigned. Only the magic was real, magic that he was able to entwine with his hatred to become the Demon King and unleash a plague upon a world already ruined, he believed, by the base desires and rampant greed of those who seek to control others. Since then, his rage has spread like a contagion, corrupting and consuming all in his path, turning them into soulless creatures, and ushering in an apocalypse of despair and darkness.

Ruhr, the half-elf river sorceress, has stood against the Demon King's fury time and again.
