Description

Children are often given the simplest details about the Bible, but never the whole story. I think it's about time we begin to teach kids who the key players in the Bible really are and their individual stories. My book and magical illustrations "God's Chosen Heroes," details the lives of many important people over the course of many stories. Filled with crucial life lessons, these books explore true stories in a fun and informative easy to read format. "God's Chosen Heroes" doesn't "dumb down" the content, making it different from other juvenile biblical literature. Children may be young but they understand more than we give them credit for. Why "dumb down" some of the most important lessons of all time? "God's Chosen Heroes" is perfect for anyone seeking to educate their youngsters with the lessons of great men and women told straight from the best piece of literature ever written, the Bible.

About the Author

Cassandra Bradley Jakes was born to proud parents Samuel and Susie Bradley on May 22, 1980 and she has four siblings: Ellis, Bobby, Tammie and Richard. Jakes was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where she attended Francis Bellamy School 102 and John Marshal Junior High, later graduating from Arlington High School. In 1988, she was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost by speaking in tongues, on February 14, of that same year. Jakes was only seven at the time and has walked "the straight and narrow" ever since. In 1991, her father, Samuel Bradley became a pastor of Philadelphia Apostolic Church at 3904 N. Emerson Ave., located in Indianapolis. This is where Jakes currently worships. She later married Chirstopher Donnell Jakes on December 1, 2007 and gave birth to Gabriel, Ezra, and Joel Jakes. When her first son Gabriel was born, she wanted to read him stories from the bible but couldn't fine thorough versions to share with him. Jakes decided to write children's Biblical books herself, focusing more on the individuals of the Bible. While studying the word of God, He reveled to her how to tell His stories in an understandable and entertaining way for children. Jakes studied psychology at Phoenix University and intends to work in the Psychology field focusing on abuse children. What started as a hobby for Jakes has grown into a passion, and although she has written novels, her heart lies with children's literature. Jakes believes that stories can be more than just fairy tales, especially stories about Biblical heroes, who are just as real today as they always have been. Set sets out to explore these true stories and is sharing them so that children-and others who choose to read her work- can feel as if they know the characters. This is just the beginning.
