Carissa Shuman is a writer, artist, and teacher. She has primarily taught at the elementary level, with a focus on reading and science. Her love for encouraging children to develop creative and critical thinking skills led her to become a proponent for STEAM. Carissa later began teaching technology and engineering across both elementary and middle school grades, as well as sponsoring teams for local and national competitions in robotics and engineering. Carissa has more than one goal when it comes to writing children's literature. She wants to spark her readers' imaginations and inspire them to pursue their dreams. She also hopes to help them develop positive character traits, including self-esteem.
